  • Colliding lasers double the energy of proton beams

    [29 May 2019] Researchers from Sweden's Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg present a new method which can double the energy of a proton beam produced by laser-based particle accelerators. The breakthrough could lead to more compact, cheaper equipment that could be useful for many applications, including proton therapy.

  • Heading towards a tsunami of light

    [19 Mar 2019] Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, have proposed a way to create a completely new source of radiation. Ultra-intense light pulses consist of the motion of a single wave and can be described as a tsunami of light. The strong wave can be used to study interactions between matter and light in a unique way. Their research is now published in the scientific journal Physical Review Letters.

  • Go underground with the Nobel Prize Laureate Takaaki Kajita

    [13 Nov 2018] On 28 November the Nobel Prize Laureate Takaaki Kajita will visit Gothenburg Physics Centre for a talk. He will tell the story about the fascinating journey which led to a groundbreaking underground discovery - and to the Nobel Prize in Physics 2015.
