Recommendations on course content for PhD students

The Committee for PhD studies has made a document with recommendations for the (60 credits/hp) course content for PhD students at the department.

Course content recommendations

When you've passed a course, please contact Clara Wilow Sundh to get the course reported into LADOK.

Fundamental courses

As a PhD student you're expected to study the following courses:

Quantum Mechanics (FIM400), 7,5 hp
Experimantal Physics (FIM420), 7,5 hp

You're expected to read at least two of these courses:

Non-equilibrium processes in physics, chemistry and biology (FIM786), 7,5 hp
Computional Physics (FIM540), 7,5 hp
Experimental design (MSA250), 7,5 hp

Faculty courses

Mandatory courses

Two courses are compulsory for all doctoral students at the Faculty of Science, see link below for more information. Information on mandatory courses

Optional PhD courses

Within the Faculty of Science a wide range of PhD courses are offered. All courses are available for all PhD students at the faculty - as a PhD Student at the Department of Physics you can study a course given by the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, and vice versa. The courses are open for all PhD students, not just the ones within the Faculty of Science.
